Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey as part of my lockdown project. It’s great getting to know fellow pageant queens and about the systems that they represent.
So what made you enter pageants ?
I entered pageants because I wanted to be a part of a sisterhood, I wanted to bring positivity to younger girls and empower other women. For me pageants are an amazing way to find yourself and to inspire others.
Can you tell us about your pageant journey so far ?
I have competed once before in the Miss GB Pageant, my regional title was Miss Cardiff 2018. So this is my second pageant. My experience was lovely and it really gave me a sense of empowerment upon women. It also helped me be aware of how much you can make a difference which helping charities etc.
What’s your dream title ?
My dream title would be Miss Intercontinental Wales.
What would it mean to you if you won Miss Intercontinental Wales ?
If I was to win my dream title it would mean everything to me, it would also show the general public that don’t understand pageants that it doesn’t not matter what size you are, you are beautiful no matter what.
Do you have any advice for fellow pageant queens ?
My advice to other pageant queens is to be yourself always.
What have you been doing in the run up to Miss Intercontinental Wales ?
As part of the run up to the final I have been raining money for Women’s aid charity by raffling off hamper boxes from my beauty salon, also if I raise £500 I will be abseiling in Holyhead.
I’m also taking part in other charities such as messy4mind where I will be pouring slime over myself to show that mental illness is a messy condition that no one see’s so by me getting messy I’m showing what goes on inside the head.
How has lockdown effected your pageant journey?

Lockdown has hindered being able to do appearances at events but I’m trying my best to schedule online appearances instead.
What do you think makes a good pageant role model ?
A good pageant role model is someone who wants to do good, someone who believes in themselves and someone that strives to make a difference.
What’s your favourite pageant round?

My favourite pageant round is swimwear because it’s a round where we can all just have fun and get really excited.
How do you deal with pageant nerves ?
Personally with pageant nerves I like to have reiki crystals with me and put any of my nerves into those stones.
Thank you so much again for answering my questions. It’s been lovely reading your answers I wish you all the success at the final. Much love Charlotte, Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020.
