Firstly can you introduce yourself ?
I am currently UK’s national teen Rotherham, Taylor Robshaw, aged 19
What made you decide to enter into pageant land ?
I wanted to begin my pageant journey as I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. My confidence was extremely low in the first lockdown and I wanted to do somthing to change that and prove to myself I am able to do anything I set my mind to. I had always loved watching Miss America pageants on YouTube and admired what the pageant girls did for their local community, I wanted to be involved in such an amazing thing.
What made you decide to enter U.K.‘s National Teen ?
I originally applied for Miss Teen Great Britain but due to COVID it was reseducaled and I was put forward for uk national miss and I am so greatful that I was as I have been able to do some incredible things during my pageant journey such as starting my own podcast that is currently on Spotify ‘ the princess perspective’ surrounding my platform mental health education and awareness as well as this organising the elf day charity day at my work place.
What’s the best thing that pageantry has taught you so far ?
The best thing that pageantry has taught me is that you have no limits, anything is possible.
What’s your pageant platform and why?
My platform is mental health, educating people and raising awareness As 1/4 of us will suffer with their mental health in their lives. I created a podcast centred around this as my bestfriend at school suffered with depression and I wanted to be the voice that helped people suffering like she was.I also created a website educating people and enabling them to help insight change as I have full page on my website dedicated to petitions to increase mental health education and support in schools.
If you were to win UK’s National Teen what would it mean to you ?
If I were to win it would mean I would make everyone who supported me proud and that’s always the goal and gain a bigger voice for my platform that I would be incredibly grateful for. I have many plans if I were to win the tital that are so exciting that I would love to fulfil.
What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?
The best advice I have for fellow queens is to never compare yourself to other people, everyone has their own paths. Admire others beauty without questioning your own.
What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant finals ?
In the lead up to the finals I have been doing a lot of charity work, for example I volunteer in my local Animal shelter and after lockdown my local mind charity shop. As well as this I have been able to raise £100 for aids and HIV Awarness as I sold mini red ribbons. I was also able to raise money for pagets by a collection box. I also had the pleasure of organising a charity day at work ‘ elf day’ to raise money for alzimers.
How has the pandemic affected your pageant journey ?
Due to corona virus I have not been able to attend any appearances this year but next year I have many exciting appearances planned for example the butterfly charity ball and the Macmillan charity ball.
A Lockdown pageant journey is the only one I know ! I used it to my advantage to learn everything I could about pageantry and to create my podcast and website. Most of lockdown was spent focusing on my platform and I am so proud of what I have created and hope it’s helping many people.
What‘s your favourite pageant round ?
My favourite pageant round has to be interview as this is when I can show the judges who I am, I believe your values and what your passionate about is so important.
How do you deal with pageant nerves ?
My way of dealing with pageant nerves is preparation to make sure I am the best version of me, everything happens for a reason and I just trust in myself.
