Interview with Royal International Miss Junior Teen United Kingdom- Aimee Hoang

Firstly thank you so much for letting me interview you today, it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant girls and all about the different systems.

So what made you enter pageants ?

I entered pageants after I saw how many doors it opened for you, it’s created incredible opportunities and I could see the life long friendships people had made.

So when did your pageant journey begin ?

My pageant journey started in October 2019 when I competed for the first time in Miss Junior Teen Great Britain. Just days after my application was sent in for Royal International Miss UK. I had my heart set on competing in this pageant as it just looked amazing and I loved that you can choose your own platform and that there was a role model extra division included.

So can you tell us more about the Royal U.K. System ?

Royal is a diverse system and goes internationally. I’ve always want to represent my country and I really love that there is a role model division. You can choose your own platform, which can be anything you are passionate about!

What’s the best thing that pageants have taught you?

The best thing pageants have taught me is just to be yourself. I have gained so much more confidence competing in pageantry and believed in myself so much more.

What’s your pageant platform ?

My platform is mental health and well-being. With this, I support the charity, MIND UK. I do this by doing raffles and holding events to raise money for them. I chose this platform as I am very passionate about it and it is my schools and dance schools chosen charity and I want to raise awareness for mental health.

What’s your dream title ? And what would you do if you won ?

My dream title is to be a RIM International Queen. I would love to hold an international title especially with Royal as I love everything the system is about. If I were to win it would mean everything, a real life dream come true! I would use my title to expand my platform and inspire more people worldwide while continuing to raise awareness for mental health.

What’s the best advice you can give to fellow pageant queens ?

The best advice I have is to just have fun. Don’t expect to win just try your best and be yourself. Winning is always the bonus and cherry on top.

What have you been doing since you won the title of Royal International Miss Junior Teen United Kingdom?

I won just a few weeks before lockdown. I managed to squeeze an appearance in their which was modelling at a fashion show, which empowered women. Now we are in lockdown, I’ve been putting notes with positive quotes on around my local area when I go for my daily walk. I’ve also been dropping shoe boxes filled with self care items at people’s doorstep.

What do think makes a good pageant role model ?

I feel as though a good pageant role model needs to be determined, passionate and positive. They need to be a good example to others and help other people around them.

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

My favourite pageant round is interview. This is the chance for the judges to get to know you. It also helps my public speaking skills, which helps me improve and will come in handy if I get to be a lawyer which is my dream job.

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

To deal with pageant nerves I just think of doing my complete best. I don’t really get nervous until I’m about to go on stage and then I calm down by just stay positive.
