Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey it’s been amazing getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.
Please introduce yourself
Miss England Semi Finalist 2020 Rebecca Sinnarajah Age: 22
What made you enter Miss England as our first ever pageant?
I’m currently a Miss England 2020 Semi-Finalist and to me being in this competition is much more than being just a pretty face, it’s all about being a positive role model, doing charity works and giving back to important cause. I joined this Miss England competition knowing I am able to bring out my purpose to a global platform, which is to raise mental health awareness. Being a Paediatric Nurse I see challenges children and young people deal with. So I want to be able to educate childrens, parents and teachers.
What the best thing that pageants have taught you so far ?
Friendship
What’s your dream title ?
To become Miss England
If you were to Miss England what would it mean to you ?
If I was to win, it honestly would mean so much to me as I can bring my purpose to a global platform. I want to be able to make a difference and there is space for each and everyone single one of you to play a role in this.
What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?

Always be positive and put your all into it. It requires hard work and determination.
How was the lockdown due to COVID19 effected your pageant journey ?
So our Semi finals were suppose to be happening in June but due to this covid it has been postponed until further notice but this hasn’t stopped us, everything is still doing their parts online such as their introduction video, their catwalk videos, and their talent videos.
What makes a good pageant role model ?
Hardwork and determination. Someone who wants to give it back to the world and make it a better place.
What’s your favourite pageant round so far ?
The talent round
What has it been like to work fighting Covid-19 as you are a Frontline Nurse ?

It hasn’t been easy but there’s no place I’d rather be than for my patients right now. It’s extremely hard to see what my patients go through but I am doing the best I can for my them to get better. We deal with daily challenges and one of the main issues was PPE, it was really difficult because we didn’t have the right stuff to protect us.
How do feel being part of the Miss England Competition ?
I’m extremely happy to be part of the competition as this allows me to bring my main purpose to a global platform. This is raising mental health awareness in children and young people. Being a Paediatric Nurse I see daily challenges that children and young people face and I’m just here to say there is support out there. My aim is to educate children and young people, as well as teachers and parents. They need to know the importance of mental health. My moto, “Together we can make a change”. Even with the lockdown it hasn’t stopped us from competing; we are doing it virtual and this is something different and a different experience for us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey and working on the front line during this pandemic. I wish you all the best at your final please keep me informed. I would also like to thank you to yourself and colleagues for your amazing hard work and bravery during this time. Much Love, Charlotte Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020.
