Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog, it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.

Can you introduce yourself ?

Ms. United Kingdom Classic Beauty International 2020, Monica A. Pace, Age 43

What made you enter pageants ?

I entered for pageants for a couple reasons. The biggest reason is because I wanted to shine a bigger light on domestic violence especially that a person can have a good life after domestic violence. Another reason is because beauty doesn’t come with a size tag. Previous titles if applicable/Have you competed before if so can you tell us about your journey? This is actually my first pageant. I am competing for Ms. Classic Beauty International Elite 2020. It is a virtual pageant. Next year, I will be competing in a different in person pageant.

What made you decide to compete in your current system ?

One of my friends, competed in the same pageant system. I loved hearing her stories. Now that I’m getting to know the women I’m competing with, I am really grateful I listened to her.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?

This pageant has taught me more about my desire to really work with and help older. It truly is important work.

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My platform is “Living my best life after domestic violence while helping others do the same.” Ten years ago, I was just getting out of a domestic violence relationship. I never felt more alone. It was such a taboo topic, so no one talked about it. I wasn’t aware of the resources and services available. I don’t want others to feel like I did or not know what is available to them.

What’s your dream title?

My dream title is Ms. Classic Beauty International Elite. It’s not a pageant where size plays into. I’m competing with some exceptional women from different countries and walks of life.

If you were to win Ms. Classic Beauty International Elite what would it mean to you ?

If I were to win, it would mean my platform could reach more people and that would mean the world to me. Domestic violence affects people from all walks of life all over the world.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?

Don’t try to be someone you are not. Be true to the uniqueness that is you.

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final ?

I am learning more about myself and loving it. I’m also talking online trainings to be a better advocate for other domestic violence survivors. That way when I can, I can get out to work with survivors.

How has the lockdown due to Covid19 affected your pageant journey ?

Since my pageant is online, not much has been affected. It’s affected mostly being able to work more on my platform in person and making public appearances.

What makes a good pageant role model ?

Someone who empowers others to be the best the can be no matter what situation they may find themselves in.

How can we follow your journey ?
