Interview with Ms Diamond Portsmouth – Lex Underdown

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey as part of my pageant lockdown blog. It’s great getting to know my fellow Diamond Queens.

So what made you enter pageants ?

I want to enter pageants to show that those who are older and have lots of tattoos are just a beautiful as the younger generation with little to no tattoos. I have never competed before. This is my first one.

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My platform is Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, because as a serving member of the Royal Navy this charity is very close to my heart, as it helps not just serving members but also ex Navy/Marines and families.

What’s your dream title ?

Obviously my dream title would be Ms Diamond 2020 but happy to have been given the opportunity to hold a regional title.

What would it mean to you if you won the title of Ms Diamond U.K. 2020 ?

It would mean everything to me. It would show that, no matter what, the older generation still have it.

What’s the best advice you can give to fellow pageant queens?

The best advise I could give is just be yourself. Dont be someone you are not, that’s just fake and that’s not what pageants are about.

What have you being doing in the run up to the final of Ms Diamond U.K. 2020?

I only joined the Diamond family late on and due to the Covid 19 situation I haven’t been able to do much. I am hoping to hold local charity events once the lockdown is over.

What makes a good pageant role model ?

I think the best pageant role model is someone who can help all those around them, having the ability to say yes and showing that they can be the best they can be at all times.

I know you haven’t competed before but which round are you most looking forward to?

Even though I’ve not been in a pageant before, I’m very much looking forward to the evening wear round and seeing all the beautiful gowns.
