Thank you so much for letting me interview you today it’s lovely getting to know my fellow Diamond finalists.

So firstly what made you enter pageants ?

I’ve been involved in pageantry for 10 years now but started off as the pageant mom. In 2015 my daughter Aisling said mam give it a go and I entered Ireland Pageants. Since then I have been all over the world meeting Queens from all over!

Wow 10 years that’s incredible, what titles have you previously held during that time ?

👑Mrs International Curve 2018/19 👑 Mrs Ireland 2017

So tell us abit more about your time competing in pageants.

My 1st pageant I competed as Mrs Cork in 2015 where I placed 1st runner up. I went back the following year as Mrs Cork 2016 and won the Title of Mrs Ireland 2017. I then went to Miss International Curve beauty pageant where I was Mrs Republic of Ireland Curve and achieved the Title of Mrs International Curve .

What made you decide to compete in the Miss Diamond System ?

A number of reasons really.

My first reason was the systems chosen charity – The Samaritans, as my platform allows me to raise awareness for something close to my heart which is Mental Health and suicide awareness.

The second reason was – I was at home in my sitting room watching the live feed of UK nationals and loved every min of this system. I just knew this is something i would love to be part of. Then seeing the amazing time the Queens had at Internationals made my decision so much easier! I applied and never looked back!

Loving my diamond family journey so far.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?

Pageantry has taught me many things in the 10 years I have been part of it. Here are a few !

Firstly I have learned to love myself and I am enough.

I have learned amazing Interview skills and public speaking skills. I can now chat away to a tv host or radio presenter and speak with confidence.

I’ve learned to love an extended family from all over the world.

I’ve learned that getting involved in my Community & doing Charity work can be very enjoyable and quite rewarding in many ways!

I’ve learned to walk in heels and carry myself well.

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My platform as Ms Diamond Cork is

💎Mental Health and suicide awareness 💎Body Positivity and Self Love

What’s your dream title ?

Wow my dream Title of Miss Diamond Ireland would be amazing and to represent Ireland at Internationals in Las Vegas would be the icing in the cake!

If you were to win Miss Diamond Ireland, what would it mean to you ?

If I achieved the title of Miss Diamond Ireland it would mean my hard work, commitment and dedication has paid off. This would allow me to continue what I am doing, raising much needed awareness for many mental health charities and promoting my title as best I could via my social media, radio, tv and news papers.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?

Just to be true to yourself and always be the best version of you.

What have you been doing in the run up to the Miss Diamond Ireland Final ?

So the run up to our pageant final, I have been quite busy! I’ve appeared on tv & newspapers promoting my Title and also asked to radio stations for a chat live on air ! I held my own Charity Pageant in Dublin ! I collected chocolate selection boxes for the sick kids at CUH over the Christmas Period. I attended many local charity events and supported them by donating my time and money. I’ve actively stayed social on my online accounts during the Covid 19 pandemic, raising awareness and taking part in many Campaigns and donating when I could to the many charities our pageant community support. I’ve also started my own campaigns aswell and holding an online photo competition where all proceeds go directly to the Samaritans.

What makes a good pageant role model ?

I believe a good pageant role model is someone that inspires others. Someone who takes charge/ a leader, who can show others that if they dream & believe, they can certainly achieve.

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

My favourite pageant round has to be Interview. Simply because you get to showcase your hard work to the judges and they get to know you on a personal level while showing your strengths and personality.

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

I think it pushes me to be the best version of me! I love being in stage so honestly I just go with the flow!

For those that don’t know Effy is also a mum to 3 children and one of them Aisling who is 15 is the current Miss Teen Ireland 2020, pageantry really does run in the family.

It’s been lovely reading your pageant journey, I wish you every success at the final of Miss Diamond Ireland. Much love Charlotte, Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020.
