Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.

What made you enter pageants ?

I stumbled across pageants on Instagram and entered to try and gain confidence and find a platform to amplify what I was passionate about.

Can you tell us about your pageant journey so far ?

I competed for the first time in Miss Voluptuous 2019. I was absolutely blown away how amazing everyone was and how supportive all fellow finalists were. And how super amazing and supportive our director was. The moment I stepped off stage I just knew I was hooked for life.

What made you decide to compete in Miss Voluptuous U.K. ?

I decided to compete on Miss Voluptuous again as the system promotes everything I value. Miss Voluptuous is open to anyone, size, shape, race, religion, sexual orientation etc with no age limit. And that to me was the system I needed to be involved with! I feel 100% proud to be apart of this system to spread the positive message it stands for.

What have pageants taught you so far ?

Pageants have taught me there is so many amazing people in this world that want to be the change.

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My platform is Mental health in youths. Mental health is something extremely important to me. I’ve had my struggles with mental health and have unfortunately lost my cousin to suicide. I hope to be able to help so that other families do not have to experience that loss. I believe if we can teach youths the tools they need we can hope for a better future and to lower those awful statistics.

What’s your dream title ?

This year Miss Voluptuous has announced they are going international. My dream title would be Miss Voluptuous UK, and to go represent the U.K. and the system in America. To be a crown for the system would be amazing. This system has changed my life for the better and to be able to give back to the system by representing them is the dream.

If you were to win Miss Voluptuous U.K. what would it mean to you ?

To win would mean I had achieved a goal in life. To win would mean I can shout from the rooftops what we stand for at Miss Voluptuous. To go compete in America was something I’d never even thought of but now is the biggest dream!

Do you have any advice for fellow pageant queens ?

My best advice would be to always be yourself don’t try to fit into a mould. Be 100% apologetically you. We are all queens even without a crown let’s show the world what we can do to make a difference.

What have you been doing in the run up to the finals of Miss Voluptuous U.K. ?

In the run up to finals I’ve being trying to meet as many amazing people as possible. Supporting everything I can. I’ve cycled the length of England virtually due to the coronavirus epidemic and still cannot quiet believe I managed it!

How has lockdown due to Covid19 affected your pageant journey ?

The lockdown has affected me getting out there and physically meeting people but thanks to technology I’m still able to meet and speak to some amazing influential people.

What makes a good pageant role model ?

I think a good pageant role model is someone who uses there crown to amplify there voice and does it with 100% conviction. Putting in the work to amplify the name of there system too.

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

My favourite round is definitely fun fashion. I love the fun in the walk and it shows in my face. I’m a very bubbly/giddy person so I feel it is a good round to show my personality.

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

I use breathing techniques I’ve learnt through my mental health journey to calm the nerves and try to remind myself to have fun with it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions it’s been lovely getting to know you and more about your pageant platform. I wish you all the best at the final. Much love, Charlotte Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020.
