Interview with Miss Natural Beauty International 2019/2020 – Pamela Gray

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog. It’s been lovely getting to know fellow queens and more about the systems that they represent.

What made you enter pageants ?

Robyn Ferguson went to my school and she won Miss Teen Galaxy Scotland I always remember after watching her thinking I wanted to try. So I entered my first pageant and I fell in love with them

So this isn’t your first pageant, can you tell us more about your pageant journey so far ?

I have previously won Miss Scotland Supreme; Face of Scotland and miss natural beauty scotland. I’ve been competing for 5 years now and I lost a lot before winning but have been really fortunate to have a lot support and help towards my titles.

What made you decide to compete in Miss Natural Beauty ?

I have known the director for a few years now and knew a few girls in the system who highly recommended it to me. After looking into the system I decided that it was the right one for me.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?

Don’t be afraid to be yourself!

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My current platform is raising awareness for childhood and teenage Cancer through giddos gift.

You have your handover soon so what’s your next dream title ?

So I’m due to handover my title very soon and I have been thinking what is my next dream title as an international was always my aim. But this is a little secret to where I will go next so people will have to wait and see …

How did you feel when you won?

I was shocked and totally over the moon all my years of work felt like they had paid off in that moment

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?

Enjoy every moment of the time you have

What have you been doing since you were crowned Miss Natural Beauty International?

I’ve been doing lots of appearances until covid came along! And helping other girls within the system achieve their dreams too.

What’s your favourite ever appearance ?

Oh that’s a hard one I love so many 🙈 I think I’d say travelling down to Wales and judging my sister queen’s pageant as I got to go and spend a full weekend with the girls that I don’t get to see all the time.

How has the lockdown due to COVID19 effected your pageant journey ?

Unfortunately my handover has been postponed and I can’t attend the new dates so it’s had a massive effect on me. I am so upset about it but I just tell myself at least we have our health and are safe!

What makes a good pageant role model ?

Someone who is positive I always think we should build each other up! Cheer for every girl in that stage no matter if you don’t even know them !

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

Interview ! I love it

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

I like to try keep talking to all the other girls throughout the day cause I know they are probably feeling the same which calms me down.
