So firstly thank you so much for agreeing to the interview it’s great to learn more about your journey with Miss Diamond U.K. especially as I’m competing for the title of Ms Diamond U.K. later on in the year.
Can I asked why you started competing in pageants ?
From a young age I had always been interested in competing up on stage from listening to my mum’s stories from when she used to be a carnival queen! So when given the opportunity to represent my county I grabbed the opportunity with both hands!
Miss Diamond wasn’t the first pageant you ever competed in as you hold quite a few previous titles too. Can you tell us what previous titles you hold ?
👸🏽 Face of Kent
👸🏽 Face of England
👸🏽 Face of the World
👸🏽 Miss Stardust Ashford International
It feels like I have been in the pageant community forever ! When in fact it’s actually been seven years.
What made you decide to enter the Diamond System ?
Finding a system that really represented my core values was really important to me . Miss Diamond UK celebrates the beauty and diversity of every woman , The Regency International pageant celebrates the beauty , culture and style of all their contestants. Another contributing factor of entering my current system was the fact that both my mother and I could compete along side each other in the same system pushing forward our own personal platforms.

What has competing in pageants taught you ?
Pageantry has taught me many things in life , but for me the most valuable lesson was that it doesn’t matter if hundreds of people believe in me. What matters most is that I believe in me.
What is your pageant platform and why ?
As an individual I represent positive diversity and inclusivity. Not only am I a director of Miss Drag UK ( national gender neutral drag pageant), I am also a curly headed queen with braces who is a tattoo artist in the making…anything is possible if you have the ability to believe in it!
Is this the end of your pageant journey or will we be seeing you grace that stage again in the future ?
I’ve had the privilege of representing the UK Internationally and coming home with the winning title! I’m so grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way , and who knows what the future holds!
You have not only won nationally but also internationally at such a young age (20) you have accomplished so much already in the pageant community, how does that make you feel ?

Winning not only nationally ,but internationally still seems so surreal. I cannot begin to comprehend the elated thoughts that raced through my mind in those moments. Truly treasured memories!
What’s the best piece of advice for fellow pageant contestants/ queens would be ?
No one is you and that is your power !
So after you have we’re crowned Miss Regency International in Vegas what have you been doing ?
Throughout the lead up to finals ( handover) online appearances/online interviews have been my best friend! I take great delight in supporting people I know online despite if they are in the pageant community or not!
What makes a good role model ?
To be a role model to the people around you is such a blessing in itself. In my eyes a role model should display the three “R’s”
Relatability- create a bond with those around you.
Reliability- Never let anyone down physically or emotionally. Be present!
Reason-Give others a reason to look up to you! Show them how you are unique!
What’s your favourite pageant round ?
It’s always a tricky one when I get asked what my favourite round of the competition is. Although I love each round, my favourite would have to be evening wear because I am allowed to showcase elegance and poise, but at the same time channel a fierce energy on stage !
How do you deal with pageant nerves ? I know this is something I personally struggle with.
When it comes to pageant nerves you really have to dig deep and remember why you are there, and the speciality that you bring to the competition! Never compare yourself to anyone else.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, your pageant journey is incredible and know your a director of your own pageant I can’t wait to see what you do next ! Hopefully I’ll see you face to face at the final of Miss Diamond U.K. when you handover. I really hope this isn’t the last we see of you competing and wish you every success in the future. Much Love Charlotte, Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020.
