Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.
What made you enter pageants ?
I entered pageants because a friend of mine Jen Taylor was a sufferer of mental illness and I saw how much it helped her not only in confidence but surrounding yourself with postive girls who want to see you strive.
Can you tell us more about your pageant journey?
My previous title was Miss Curves Ireland which was my first title, I entered curves because I had quiet serious surgery and had put on a bit of weight so I competed rather than wait a while.
What made you decide to compete in Miss Diamond?
Well Diamond is a fab system with all types and shapes and personalities I thought yeah then I won there online photo comp and have got a place in the final.
What have pageants taught you?
They have taught me the only competition you have is yourself, getting-on that stage makes any girl a winner
What’s your pageant platform and why?
My platform is mental health for the reason I’ve battled since a teen I’ve faced been a young mum and then post natal depression with my last child I was finally clinically diagnosed with Generalised anxiety disorder 6 years ago so I no how hard life is and how much awarness needs to be put out there.
What’s your dream title ?
My dream title was this time 2 years ago my dream was to get on stage and win Miss Curves Ireland and I did, anything going forward is a gift but internationals is the goal.
How did it feel when you won Miss Curves Ireland?
When I won Ireland I was in shock it wasn’t until I got home and had to do news paper interviews ect it sunk in but its made me a very determined girl why shudnt it be me my illness does not define me it makes me the woman I am.
What’s your favourite pageant appearance?
My favourite appearance is been a role model at training day for Miss Shining Light I’m also a director and the little girls look up to you like wow what more can I say.
How has COVID19 affected your pageant journey?
Covid has made me sit back and think about going forward been able to plan appearances ect and how I can help using my platform not only in pageants but I work for sky TV too so I know after this mental health will be an issue
What makes a good pageant role model?
I think I’m a good role model cause most things that are sent to tear you down I’ve been there and it’s made me the woman I am and strive to be
What’s your favourite pageant round ?
It has to be Irish wear I had a black velvet Irish dancing dress designed by world renowned dress maker doire dresses it was amazing an I won best in fashion.
How do you deal with pageant nerves ?
I was so nervous in Ireland but been a director has gave me an insight on both sides and practice got to the practice in
