Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Ellie Covell-Rendel I am 15, and I’m your miss Teen Lincoln Atlantic 2020.
What made you enter pageants ?

I am a model and have always loved modelling and when I was advertised a pageant I fell in love with the idea.
Have you competed before if so can you tell us about your journey?
In October 2019 I competed in Miss Junior Teen Great Britain, this pageant was just so I could get a taster of the pageant community and have fun. This time I compete I am fully focused on the crown and I’m already working so hard even in lockdown!
What made you decide to compete in the Atlantic System ?
Atlantic just seems the best suited system for me. My friend Lilly Strong is also competing and she told me about it, I quickly got in touch with the director Romy and she seemed so lovely which made me want to apply even more. In my previous pageant I didn’t do much research into it because I just thought all pageants were the same but I was definitely wrong, Atlantic raises money for Mind which is the charity I would choose if we could support any so I was so please to see it was a mental health charity.
What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?
Pageants have taught me to accept myself for who I am and not care what anyone thinks about me because I am going to be me forever so why get down about it!
What’s your pageant platform and why ?
My platform is 100% mental health awareness, I have had not the best mental health over the last few years but after overcoming it I want to educate people on ways to get back to your old self, or even stronger.
What’s your dream title ?
My dream title is definitely Miss Teen Atlantic 2021, I am so excited to compete. Every morning I wake up after dreaming about being on the Atlantic stage with a big smile on my face, I am constantly planning appearances, fundraising ideas and all my dresses ect. I just can’t wait!
If you were to win Miss Teen Atlantic would it mean to you ?
I would be on cloud 9, after a full year of hard work it would just top it off to take home the crown. I would definitely give the crown the best year ever driving across the county to different events, I already have so many visions for me and the crown so now all there is too do it work hard and keep my fingers crossed.
What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant contestants ?
Have fun and be yourself. I know everyone says this but it’s so true, the judges want to see who you really not anyone else. Everyone is unique which is what helps you reach the crown, don’t blend in!
What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final ?
Due to covid 19, appearances are limited but I have been doing lots of charity fundraising. I started fundraising at the end of March and my total currently stands at £136 which i’m so proud of, if I stay on track which I definitely will I am going to smash my target of £300 which makes me so happy to know that the money is going to help so many people in a bad place.
What’s your favourite ever appearance ?
My favourite appearance would probably have to be my confidence online campaign or my appearance in the Super Model Universe newsletter. My campaign helped over 20 girls love themselves and I am so proud to be published internationally in a newsletter. I have been internationally published 5 times now!
How has the lockdown due to COVID19 affected your pageant journey ?
Lockdown has only affected appearances and I’m not going to let it get in the way of anything else. I am doing lots of online appearances but I want to get out and donate to all my local charity shops, hospitals ect.
What makes a good pageant role model ?
A good pageant role model needs to be confident and kind. I look up to girls who never give up and keep trying until they succeed, which is what I’m going to do with Atlantic. You don’t always win 1st place but even to be in the finals is a big accomplishment in itself.
What’s your favourite pageant round ?
My favourite round is fashion wear, I also think i’ll really enjoy swimwear but I love evening as well. It’s too hard to decide!
How do you deal with pageant nerves ?
To deal with nerves on stage I learnt this with catwalks, don’t overthink it and take a couple deep breathes. If the nerves get to you just shake it off because once your on that stage every nervous feeling will be replaced by confidence.
