Why I chose the Ms Diamond U.K. System by Ms Diamond South Yorkshire 2020

So around this time last year I decided to come back into pageant land and take part in the Ms Diamond U.K. system.

This was having a long break from pageants but I decided to compete again as I missed the pageant community as well as the buzz you get on stage.

The thing was there are so many different systems to compete in now especially ones that accept mummy’s like me I had to make sure I was going to enter the right pageant system for me.

I actually got accepted into Miss Diamond when it was holding its first ever pageant but due to a change to the international I could no longer take part because if I was lucky enough to win I couldn’t compete in the international system due to already having a holiday booked. This wasn’t fair on myself, the directors or the other contestants so I took the decision to withdraw.

But I always wanted to compete in the Diamond system as I just love how they don’t discriminate anyone.

The diamond system celebrates the beauty and diversity of every woman and they are committed to promoting positive body image therefore they have no height or weight limits and they also welcome married women and mothers.

So for me it was competing in Ms Diamond or not competing at all.

The system takes into account the charity work to chosen charities a well as the hard work you put in before hand.

For me charity work and appearances is the whole point of been a pageant queen, there’s nothing worse than someone winning and they just leave there crown on a shelf and let it gather dust ! Instead of promoting the system they have won which isn’t just for them but also the directors and future contestants.

If you see a queen working hard to promote there platform, charities and attending appearances then it helps promote the system meaning more girls/women will enter the system.

So at the diamond final which has been postponed due to the current climate it’s split into sections. Firstly it’s interview which is a timed interview where you explain what you have done during your reign as a regional finalist. If you have had your regional sash for months on end but not done anything then why should you be crowned the U.K. queen ? I do appreciate that there are last minute entries but if that’s the case explain it ! In my interview I’ll be able to talk about all the appearances I’ve done both online (more so now we’re on lockdown) but also my physical appearances such as 5k runs, cheque presentations, teddy drop off, Easter egg collection, Christmas present collection and much more. The interview not only allows you to talk about your appearances and charity work but also about your platform.

My platform is cancer awareness and end of life care so I’ll be talking what I have done to promote this area such as my 10 days of facts regarding end of life care, the number of online campaigns to support cancer and what I have done charity wise for my platform.

I’m taking this time to separate appearances from my platform some go together some don’t. This is so I can cover as much as I can during my interview at the final.

After the interview it’s the opening round which isn’t judged but it’s your time to shine so I’m going to act likes it a judges round.

Then it’s the fashion round my favourite, this allows me to show my personality off on stage and then finally it’s evening wear think Disney princesses elegant walk !

Because of the work before hand, the interview and the stage work and each one is judged individually and then the scores added up it means that anyone can enter ! I do get very nervous on stage so I’m trying to work on this before the final but I’m very confident when it comes to the before work and in interview. So I’m using this time in lockdown to know my strengths and weaknesses and work on it !

For those that don’t know, the winners of the diamond system (age range from 4 up) go onto to compete in America in the Regency Internationally pageant which is my dream. I haven’t competed internationally since 2014 when I competed in Face of the Globe so I’m really hoping that this is my year.

So that’s why I chose Ms Diamond ! So for the newcomers to pageants you need to research the best system for you ! Are you like me and better with appearances charity and interview ? Then you need a system that rewards that. If your don’t or can’t (I’m not judging i understand pageants can take over your life) make many appearances or do as much charity work then maybe a system that doesn’t award extra points for those things might be the best thing for you ! There is a system to suit everyone out there it’s just about doing your research and understanding your strengths and weaknesses and using this to your advantage.
