Interview with Ms Goa – Emma Patrick

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog it’s lovely getting to know fellow pageant queens and more about the systems that they represent.

Can you introduce yourself ?

Ms Goa 2020, Emma Patrick, 32.

What made you enter pageants ?

The charity aspect, I really like to help others.

Can you tell us about your pageant journey?

I won Miss Worldwide charity twice and a few other charity awards.

What made you decide to compete in your current system ?

I knew the pageant director Cat Pratt; I believe we have the same values. The pageant also fundraises for Samaritans and they have helped my friends.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?

That you can build up friendships.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

I have two, Samaritans and Community and Cultures Together.

I believe a pageant is a platform enabling one to grow, it would mean that so many doors will open to me. I would also like to be a mentor to the next contestants.

What’s your dream title ?

Well, for me it is all about the charity side and since many pageants include fundraising in one form or another I am happy. I also want to have a title where I can help others.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant contestants ?

Do not worry if you don’t win, think about how many friends you are making and the fact you are helping charities.

What’s your favourite ever appearance ?

I would have to say, when I won Miss Worldwide, it was such a special day.

How has the lockdown due to covid 19 effected your pageant journey ?

Well I have been going through radiotherapy and chemotherapy for an incurable brain tumour, so that means I find it difficult to leave the house. However, I have been doing a lot of campaigns, fundraising and I even won a Miss Mystic Beauty Christmas decoration competition.

Has your reign been extended due to COVID19?

I am not sure yet, the pageant is in October so there is quite a lot of time before the finals.

What makes a good pageant role model ?

Well I believe you must be a good leader, that means serving others and being a good mentor. If you show that you are doing something good, then others will want to be involved.

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

The evening wear round.

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

I try to just enjoy the moment, make friends and support others.
