Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions about your pageant journey for my pageant lockdown blog it’s lovely getting to know fellow queens (especially fellow Diamond Queens).

Can you introduce yourself ?

Aisling Murphy Age 15 Miss Teen Diamond Cork 2020

What made you enter pageants ?

I have been involved in pageantry almost 10 years now. I started at age 6 entering Glitz Pageants. As I grew up I found my love for pageantry and began to enter Title Systems. I’m hooked now ! Love everything about pageantry.

Can you tell us about your journey so far ?

👑Miss Universal Royalty Australia 👑Junior Miss Ireland 👑Miss Teen Ireland I have competed in many systems and different types of pageantry! From glitz to national and international systems! I started competing professionally in pageants since the age of six, 10 years later and I am still competing and adoring what I am doing. I have travelled all over the world to compete, i have been to Australia, New Zealand, Uk but my dream is to compete in America!

What made you decide to compete in the Diamond system ?

This time last year, myself and my mum sat and watched the live final of Miss Diamond UK and I knew I wanted to be part of this amazing system. The Glitz and glam of it all was just wow! I followed last year’s queens on their journey to Las Vegas and dreamed of being there representing Ireland ! When mum told me I was accepted as Miss Teen Diamond Cork 2020 I was over the moon. So happy to be part of the Diamond Family.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you ?

Pageantry has thought me many things but most importantly – To believe in myself and always be myself. Be the best version of me. To aspire to Inspire.

What’s your pageant platform and why ?

My platform is Autism Awareness and the length of waiting times in Ireland for a child to have an ASD Assessment. My brothers Ollie, Daniel, Christian and Adam inspires me daily and I’m blessed to have them in my life.

What’s your dream title ?

This is an easy one! 👑Miss Teen Diamond Ireland. Imagine !!!!

If you were to win Miss Teen Diamond Ireland what would it mean to you ?

Honestly, it would mean the world to me if I was to achieve the title of Miss Teen Diamond Ireland. To have represented my county of Cork in the finals of Miss Diamond Ireland, in the UK is just everything but to win is a dream. To dedicate my time to an amazing system which allows me to raise awareness for Autism is such an incredible achievement already.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens ?

If your thinking of competing in a pageant make sure you do your research. Choose a pageant that appeals to you, whether it is the charity or if your aiming to have a national or international title! If it is just the crown you are after then the glitz systems are for you.

What have you been doing in the run up to the final of Miss Teen Diamond Ireland ?

Having just entering the Diamond System I have been busy behind the scenes arranging appearances, stage outfits, my platform and getting to no my fellow contestants via social media.

What’s your favourite appearance ?

Although I have just joined the Diamond System and with covid-19 in place, I haven’t had the opportunity to make an appearance, however an appearance I am loving forward to is the masquerade ball for rainbow club, which is a charity for autism. As my platform is autism awareness I like to get involved with local autism charities.

How has the lockdown due to Covid19 affected your pageant journey ?

I am dying to get out an about to make appearances but with the covid restrictions I haven’t been able to! But I intend on making many online appearances

What makes a good pageant role model ?

I feel a good pageant role model is someone who promotes their system as much as possible. Someone who dedicates there time to that system and and wants to make a difference! Someone who builds other people up and boosts their confidence! Someone who is an inspiration and can act like a leader as part of her role as queen

What’s your favourite pageant round ?

My favourite pageant round would have to be interview. I feel my interview is where I get to show what I as finalist am about and the judges get to know me on a personal level. I also get to speak about my platform which is autism awareness and to raise awareness for the length of time children have to wait for a assessment in Ireland.

How do you deal with pageant nerves ?

As I am in pageantry 10 years, I don’t get nervous anymore. But I do get the Adrenalin rush of excitement before I get on the stage.
