So we all know that pageants have come to a stand still but even without the lock down how do you stay motivated ? By that I mean continue appearances, practice your walk, outfit prep, make up prep, hair prep and interview prep !

Sometimes like me you can hold your regional title for 12 months and at the moment even longer, my pageant system should be holding its U.K. final in 3 weeks but this has been postponed to later on in the year so its looks like I’ll be holding my regional title for 18 months.

Instead of seeing this as a negative I’m seeing this as a positive the longer you have your title the longer you can do more with it.

I’ve been setting myself goals to hit and crossing them off as I go.

Goal one for me was the number of appearances I wanted to achieve, this May sound competitive but I wanted to hold the most number of appearances in the Ms Diamond system EVER this is because I’m a competitive person and it’s the one aspect of pageantry I can control before the final. I didn’t just want to take part in anything or anything though I wanted to make sure I was supporting the right things for my platform and sister queens.

So I got the figure and above it I wrote the total number of mine until I managed to best that number.

This helped my keep motivated and made sure pageants and my platform was on my mind.

To help with appearances I followed charities that I can work with constantly checking for events and ways to help.

Goal 2 trying to get Press for myself the pageant and the event or charity I’m working with. So my tips for this is to write your own press releases and send them off with your contact details as sometimes they will just run the press release other times they will change it and sometimes they will make the article bigger and better. I’m lucky as I have two local papers in Doncaster and here’s some of my success.

Another thing to help keeping motivated is Skype interviews, I’ve had three now and it allows you to share information about you, your system and what you have been up too. This helps me keep motivated as I don’t want to discuss the same appearance over and over again so it makes sure that you keep going with new appearances and events.

Goal 3 make yourself a charity target, you can split this over time so month one raise x amount month two raise x amount until you hit or over achieve your target.

Goal 4 keep your outfits in mind look on Pinterest or instagram for inspiration an don’t change your ideas thats the worst thing you can do stick to your outfit plan !!

Goal 5 pageant accessories once you have your outfits it’s accessory time think shoes and earrings

Goal 6 make up and hair practice a lot of finals do have muas and hair stylists but I would still practice so your covered if the worst case scenario happens ! This will help keep the pageant at the forefront of your mind.

Goal 7 the final list ! So this is a check list of everything you need for the final and normally comes in a finalist pack my suggestion is write it down, put it in a diary or on your phone ! This way it’s always to hand and you can tick things off as you go put the items in a pageant box or bag or suitcase ! ( not your outfits though as you need to practice walking in them)

Goal 7 which isn’t one for me but maybe useful to you is a scrap book or appearance folder this will help you keep motivated by seeing what you have already accomplished! (Mine get emailed over so I don’t need an appearance folder) plus as well if you don’t see much in your folder or book it will push you to do more. One girl actually used a photo book app for Miss Scuba which looked amazing ! Very professional but you have to make sure you order it on time to arrive before you set off to your pageant !!

I hope this helps keep you motivated not just during lock down but in general as like I said you can have you regional title for quite sometime.
