So as you all know the U.K. went into lockdown due to COVID19, 9 weeks ago. Which put at end to pageant appearances. So what could do we do ?
Pageant Queens got creative with campaigns from videos to challenges such as #dontrush and the #carrierbagdress challenge, poetry and drawing challenges as well as so much more.

Many online campaigns have turned from photos to videos and pageant queens from across the world thanked our Keyworkers and in the U.K. the NHS.
But for Ms Diamond South Yorkshire Charlotte Lister, decided to take this time to create a pageant lockdown blog. She took this time to interview 106 Beauty Queens from the U.K. America, Canada and Australia to not only share Queens Pageant journeys but there platforms, systems and the reason they entered. The reason she did this was to help change people’s perspective on the pageant industry.
A lot of the non pageant community still see pageants as big hair and pretty dresses. They don’t see the hard work we do in our local community’s and for our charities that we support.
Pageant contestants raises thousands of pounds for a number of charities year in year out but this often gets forgotten.
Pageants allow us to be the best version of ourselves and help us learn not only valuable skills but also transferable ones. Such as interview skills, community work, charity work, determination, goal setting and good mental health. We also focus on making sure we are fit and healthy not only so we look our best but also feel our best when we are on stage.
I must admit that not all skills are transferable but they are pretty amazing such as walking in huge high heels for long periods of time and walking on stage without looking down.
For Charlotte it’s not only allowed her to start her lockdown blog but also contribute to Pageant Magazine to help share these interviews on a larger scale.
Charlotte has had the privilege to interview some incredible regional finalists and some National and International Queens including a former Miss U.K., a Former Miss England, Miss Intercontinental Scotland, Miss Intercontinental England and Ms Great Britain.
When you read these interviews you understand that these women enter pageants to help get more confidence and meet empowering women as well as making friends and have some amazing opportunities to travel and represent the U.K. in International Pageants.
Pageant are not just about pretty dresses, there about hard-work, focus and determination.
To be a pageant queen you have to work hard and never give up.
Even though lockdown rules have been changed slightly Charlotte is still interviewing fellow queens and sharing these on Social Media.
